Re: Your first MX Race Reply to this Post

Me and our son bought our first bikes in February of 03. I bought a 03 CR125R, and him a CR85R. I think it was about 2 weeks later we raced at Beaumont Mx. It was cold, rainy, windy and muddy. I raced the 125 beginner and 45+D. I think I finished outside the top 5, but not for sure.

Re: Your first MX Race Reply to this Post

Early 1978 at Danbury MX Park. Finished 2nd on a 1978 XR75 against a field full of YZ and RM 80's. We were so green that we had the bike tied down in the truck with regular rope. We didn't even know what tie-downs were. We kept having to stop about every 30 minutes on the way to the track to retighten the rope. lol We learned a lot that first race.

Re: Your first MX Race Reply to this Post

Danbury was cool back then because it was very laid back and non-pressure, compared to racing at the big GNC races at places like Rio and Lake Whitney. I never did like the slick, hard pack, black dirt gumbo stuff too much though. After that first race, all the other "moto Dads" told my Dad that he had to get me a "real race bike" so he went out and got me a new YZ80 a few weeks later. After that first race, both my Dad and I were hooked. Been a moto fan every since. Even though I stopped racing for good in the late 80s, I still keep up with the sport online.

Re: Your first MX Race Reply to this Post

I raced Danbury many times... I remember the rubber band start and the peacocks walking around the track. I knew of a John Bright, rode Suzuki, lived down HWY 6 way...

I can tell ya what happened 1975 thru 1984... but cant tell ya what happened last week..... rj
