Re: Amatuer Day @ Houston Sx Reply to this Post

I have a few questions about amateur day @ HSX.

1 - Will we be able to spend the night in the parking lot of NRG stadium? If not, by the time I get out of the nights event, and back to Beaumont, it will be at least midnight. Then will have to load up and drive back for the amateur day event. That will make for about 3-4 hours of sleep at best. Of course I could stay at a nearby motel, but then I would possibly have no bike to ride the next day.

2 - Do we have to have specific style/color numbers on our bikes? My background is a light gray with orange numbers.

3 - Will we be disqualified if we make a triple out of a jump, or will there even be any triples on our track?

4 - Will we get to race 30 +2, or will we be relegated to a lousy 4-5 laps?

1- not 100% sure on this one , Van said they usually let the amateur in late Saturday nite , not for sure, and yes to the no bike if at local motel !!
2- not in our vet class as long as u got all three number plates on really won't matter cause we will be running transponders, more money
3- Monty , yes you can make three singles out of triple, ha ha , you can make any jump combo u want , track will be toned down , but some jump faces will still be steep
4- that about all they will have time for is 4 laps, with all of the classes,

See you there Monty

Thanks Big Daddy.

I'll stay tuned for more info about staying/sleeping/camping in the parking lot.

You have to go to. Supercross futures .com , and it will explain it to you , they will let you know if they are full yet, as some classes will have heat races to get to the main and should be a LCQ , it also depends on the turnout, it could be a very long day, but it's a great experience, let us know if you get signed up I'm doing the 30 and 40 classs, and they are not letting us in on Saturday nite , gates open at 5 on Sunday morning,

Re: Amatuer Day @ Houston Sx Reply to this Post

Looks like no overnight camping in the parking lot after Sx for amateur day. From a logistical standpoint, it's a poor decision, as it will make it difficult for some to be able to watch Sx, then race the following morning.

From a legal standpoint, I understand why. They have to control potential public drunkenness, theft, drifting, burnouts, fights, and just plan hooliganism, which could result in lawsuits. To keep control would require extra staff and security, and would be quite costly.

I already have tickets for Houston Sx, but I may just stay home and miss Sx, and just leave early Sunday morning for amateur day.

Although it's a waste of time, I'm going to call Tara Polkabla tomorrow. It won't likely change anything, but at least they will be made aware of the difficulty for some, if not many to be there for 2 days, and not be able to be onsite for the duration. Maybe it will come up at the next none money grabbing meeting. rolling eyes
