Howard Lobel down yesterday at Rio Reply to this Post

Big Maico (Howard Lobel of Houston) took a big digger yesterday at Rio Bravo.

He is currently in the Shock Trauma unit at Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston. He evidently whiskey throttled over a berm at Rio and body slammed a tree. He had surgery last night to remove his spleen. In addition, he suffered a broken femur, open break to the wrist, and a broken ankle. According to his wife, Donna, things were iffy last night as his blood pressure fell, he also developed compartment syndrome and didn't have blood flow to the hand or foot. That has been restored at this time and he is currently in surgery again to work on the wrist.

Please say a prayer for our friend Howard.

I just got off the phone with Donna and Howard is doing much better this evening. He is awake and alert and his pain is being managed. He still needs additional surgeries to fix the femur and ankle so he will be in the hospital for some time to come.

Prayers with Howard and his family. Howard has helped me and a lot of people with our old Maicos, maybe we can give him some help while he is on the road to recovery.

Yes, best wishes for speedy recovery. I thought Howard gave up riding a while back after his last crash which put him down for sometime. Tough sport to remove yourself from.
