ARHMA regional Huffman farm review Reply to this Post

It was a great weekend for all The Huffman hosted a great event and with the help of many "oldschool squids" prepared an awesome track to ride.
The track was long and was made up of natural elevation changes, off-cambers, fast sweepers and a small amount clay sections added to the plush "brownie mix" dirt. Randy "Rokoman66" Howell tended to track prep and kept the course in good race mode.
AHRMA rep., Al Newman, ran a very well organized program with a better than expected turnout. A large showing of the Dallas area TVRC contingent were in force as well as the Houston area, two-wheeled pilots. Racing was fast and nobody took a ride to the medic unit. It was a great event that should NOT be missed. With the usual class structure, there were also a couple of modern bike classes included in the lineup to mix things up and attract more of the "late-model" bike racers.
Now I'll ask some of the guys to chime-in and add their comments.

I got to take my hat off to all involved. So many to mention. Thanks Jay for your 100% given for this great event.Track was awesome. 100% vintage. What a pleasure to ride. And yes Randy loved that tracker and did a fantastic job, he also purchased him a vintage Husky this weekend looking forward to seeing another one on the track. Awesome weekend and looking forward to another. There were some fast old and young guys there putting on quite a show.

A great weekend of racing at a great track! A huge THANK YOU to everyone who made this happen, especially the entire Huffman family for being super accommodating and working so hard leading up to and during the event.

For those of you who weren't there, just remember the times you've driven through a hilly part of TX and saw an awesome set of rolling hills off to the side of the road. You then started day dreaming (almost missing that Bucc ee's exit) about getting to rip up those hills on your bike. Well, this is the track where that gets to happen. Even better, throw in many hours of great dozer work on that land to REALLY get it prime to ride, and there you have it - the "Donie track".

Heck,I even liked the rubber band start. I mean, if we're going to be involved in "throwback" racing, might as well have a "throwback" start; very cool.

Thanks, Larry. That was fun, for sure, and a great example of why I wanted to come back to racing. Where else could I possibly find such an adrenaline rush as having that guy right on my tail the entire moto? I wish he would have been using a go-pro; I could watch 95% of my ride!

Back in the day, I would have been pissed to give it up three turns from the end like I did, but that's not where my head is at this stage/age. I'm still just amazed that I'm able to experience a race like that again and having too much fun to let it ruin an awesome day. If some guy wants to pin it a second longer on a fourth-gear downhill to make a pass, he deserves it man, good for him! :)

Yes it was a great Old School kind of weekend. The Huffmans put on a great show, I especially liked all the snow fencing and cordoned off areas so people could go out on the inside of the track for a better view. That and the banners and flags that gave it a nice touch as well. The racing was fast and safe for everyone ,except for the squid on the Suzuki that over jumped and landed on John Putkes back. It was even cool for the more modern bikes to have a go at a GP style track, they didn't seem to bitch about not enough air time. You folks need to saddle up and head on up to the next one for sure.
