Jul 31, 2008 Gatorade Enters Main Event
Houston, Texas (July 21, 2008) - Gatorade has once again jumped on board with motocross racing is South Texas. Last years support from Gatorade of the South Texas Night Series has been shifted to the Eagle Sports Main Event Series in hopes of growing the events overall. In doing so, the top five in each amateur class will receive one case of Gatorade Thirst Quencher based on each rider overall finish in the five round series.
Promoter and Parts Unlimited Rep, Larry Hughes said "Its exciting to have such a company recognize the accomplishments that riders face in order to compete any level of motocross. Amateur racing in huge in Texas and we are happy to have Gatorade on board as a corporate supporter. To combine our (Larry Hughes and Tony Miller of Freestone) efforts is another way the sponsors and riders will benefit. We are excited that the first round grew by 32% over 2007."
The Main Event Series is based on a short heat race to qualify for a gate pick for the main event, ala Supercross. The second round of the Eagle Sports Main Event Series will be at Highlands Motocross Park on August 9th. The Main Event Series host day and night racing in the Houston metro area motocross tracks. Jun 17, 2008 EVO Finale
It was a huge turnout for the last round of the EVO Spring Series at Three Palms GP Track. This series has grown each round as everyone hears of the limited class structure and increased laps. MTV was out filming the conclusion for an MX related 'MADE' show to air in the near future. Also somewhat surprising was the very large turnout for the first ever 'Drag' race... hmmmmm. See the 400+ photos of the action here.

The largest annual weekend in Texas Motocross is the following weekend as Freestone plays host to the AMA Toyota Motocross Championship. The weekend will kick off on Thursday (June 5th) and Friday (June 6th) with the AMA Amateur Day & AMA Pro/Am racing. This is the first year for the amateurs to compete on the National track while all of the motocross industry watches to see what Texas riders can do on such a stage. On Saturday, June 7th, the AMA Toyota Motocross Championship riders will return to the Texas soil for practice and qualifying. Saturday will also play host to Round 2 of the Womens Motocross Association (Moto #1). All the attention will then shift to the amateur track with Pit Bike racing under the lights starting at 7:00pm. After the Pit bike event, live music will close out the night. Then on Sunday, June 8th, the AMA Toyota Motocross riders will hit the dirt to do battle for Round 3 of the championship. Last years event winners and eventual series champions, Grant Langston (Motocross division) and Ryan Villopoto (MX Lites division) have the bulls eye on their backs as the worlds best riders go bar-to-bar for 30 minutes plus two laps, twice to get this years overall winner. As an additional bonus in 2008, the Women Motocross Championship will compete in Moto # 2 on Sunday as well.
To round out this incredible three weeks of two-wheeled mayham, the top amateurs in the region will compete on the National track all bidding to qualify for the 27th Annual Loretta Lynn's Youth Regional. Apr 23, 2008 Jeff Dement Plans Return to Racing
Posted from Jeff Dement in the forums:
Hello HMX,
I just wanted to let everyone know that I am currently preparing for my return to racing. The 2009 AMA SX Championship will be my official return to the sport. I have been recovering from the serious injuries that I suffered last season after getting landed on by another rider. It has forced me to endure the longest recovery period of my entire career. I had CAT scans performed on both my head and spleen last week. The results of each test came back perfect. It is very comforting to see that all of my internal & head injuries are completely healed. I also had thumb surgery on April, 14th. The operation was to repair my damaged tendon and broken ligaments. The procedure was sucessful and my scheduled return to riding is June 15th. I have recently been conducting MX Training sessions with my MX Dement Racing company. We have a very complex program that includes: On-Bike Training / Cardio & Weight Training / Diet & Nutrition Programs / & VO-2 Max Testing. I am currently coaching a great group of both Professional and Amateur riders. I want to sincerely thank everyone on this website for the numerous get well wishes that I recieved after my injuries. I look forward to seeing everyone at the races.
Ciao, JD mxdement@yahoo.com

Apr 15, 2008 Freestone National and TRSF
From TRSF: Once again this year TRSF will be teaming up with The Millers and Freestone County MX during Round 3 of the Texas Outdoor Nationals on June 8th.
TRSF will have an even larger role this year and even more of of opportunity to be recognized as one of the leading foundations that supports injured mx riders across Texas. This is the substantial fund raiser for TRSF as well. TRSF made a fair amount of it's operating budget last year at this event, but we are better prepared this year in terms of what to expect and plan on making this our MAJOR fund raising event.
From June 5-June 8 TRSF will be manning the entry gates to Freestone County, doing the ice sales for the weekend, handling pit pass sales and manning TWO drink stands this year on Sunday.
We can't do it alone! We need your help! We've already had the majority of the people who volunteered last year return to volunteer again this year.
But we need more. You can expect to work 10-12 hours for the weekend. Workers will work a 4 hour shift Friday or Saturday and than Sunday morning (unless you volunteer to do the ice sales or drink stands). You will be done to see all the racing on Sunday. In exchange for this Freestone County is providing several perks for it's volunteers. They get free gate entry for the entire weekend, free camping, all access to the grounds and pits (when the pits are open only), hospitality area and a viewing area that is set aside for them and their families if t hey choose to take advatange of it. There will be more to come....
Those who took part in this last year will tell you it was one of the most awesome experiences they've had. It was challenging and it was fun! TRSF benefitted substantially not year from just the cash contributions it raised, but from the major publicitity it received as being Freestone's "charity of choice".
If you'd like to be a part of it this year email me asap as slots are limited. If you are under 18 you are allowed to work, but must have an adult working with you or a signed and notarized release. For more questions or to sign up email me at jennifermallozzi@sbcglobal.net
This year don't just attend the Nationals. Be a part.
Thank you Tony and Karen Miller for letting TRSF be a part of this again this year!.........

Mar 26, 2008 TRSF Swap Meet and 'Ride For Kids' Grudge Duel
From Jennifer Russell of TRSF:
This Saturday March 29 3 Palms GP Track 9-12 3Palms has said we can hold a swap meet, do some grudge racing, and raise money for some good causes. 1) The Legendary Grudge Race between Uncle Scotty and Todd Binns. 4th year now. Will Uncle Scotty win this year? Let's hope so. Loser has to eat the dirty sock of the winner. All money bets placed on the race will go to Pediatric Brain Tumor foundation (win or lose). This race is for bragging rights. Or should I say gagging rights? You can view the smack talk on this website thread http://www.houstonmotocross.com/theforum/viewthread?thread=26066 2) why let Uncle Scotty and TDog have all the fun? This year we are opening up grudge racing to everyone. For 25.00 to Pediatric Brain Tumor foundation you can call out ANYONE for a 3 lap race on the GP Track. And it doesn't have to be just one person. Call out ALL your friends. 25.00 per race for 2 people. Invite everyone you've ever known you were faster than for 35.00. Again this is for FUN and for bragging rights only. .3) Riding laps to raise money...don't want to race? Just get people to sponsor you to ride some laps on the GP track and race money that way. Emil/3Palms will be matching those sponsors up to 200.00. Thanks 3Palms. Again, all money going to Pediatric Brain Foundation. This is a great way to get the kids who ride to raise money riding for those who can't. The GP track will be for "open" for practice from 9-10 a.m. for those who are riding laps or practicing for the grudge racing. Those riding laps will take a break while there is some racing going on and can get back out there between that. 4) Swap meet. Posted on another thread, but you can buy a table for 15.00 and sell all your used gear/mx items. This money will be a TRSF fund raiser and we'll have tables out there with all kinds of gear, tires, handlebars, autographed jerseys, etc. Contact Rance Buss at rbuss@mjlm.com for more info. TRSF will also be out selling shirts, etc. Come and out and join us. It's going to be an awesome morning of riding/racing and friends.

whats up? thanks to everyone for their concern, but lets not get ahead of ourselves. I did NOT walk independently. Although i think i will be able to once again in the future, but it will take nothing less than HARD work and no UTI's and so on...
for those of you who don't understand a scsi, its like this:
think of ur spinal cord as a extention (spelling?) cord. well mine was pinched at my c5, c6 level so the messages that i send from my brain to my lower portions are lost and the same for if i have pain in my legs for instance, it won't hurt in my legs. insted i will start sweating or get chills.
those are some of my struggles, but in therapy since the first of the year i have been able to hold some weight on my legs by someone supporting me whiile i stand. i can not balance cause my core is so weak and i cant feel my muscles contracting.
i still have no use of my hands and still fighting atrophy in my upper body.
but, i'm still fighting! annd thank you for all the support and caring. Motocross was my whole worldand i stillwake up somedays thinking....have i really not ridden in two years? damn.......i think
thanks
